National Tequila Day

Friday, July 24th, 2009
tequilaFrom Fast Company: "The U.S. imported $113 million worth of tequila in the first quarter of this year... Last year a group of scientists found that by vaporizing tequila and then heating it to nearly 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit, they could create diamonds."

Why does this matter? Because today (July 24) is National Tequila Day. So take a shot, drink a margarita or eat the worm, we're celebrating!

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

beer sweaterFor the man who has everything (except koozies), the beer sweater will keep your beer chilled (or warm) in argyle style. The even make one to fit your favorite 40oz bottle of OE. And if that wasn’t enough! Each one is unique depending on the sweater it was torn out of! (Cost: $16-$18 depending on bottle size)

Homemade oatmeal stout and Heath Bar ice cream

Friday, July 17th, 2009
oatmeal-stout-ice-creamFrom A Good Appetite: "This was a total success, if I do say so myself. The ice cream base has a slight bitter flavor but also a bit of a toffee flavor from the stout. The sweetness of the Heath bar is a good foil to that bitterness while the toffee in it helps bring out more of that toffee flavor. The texture of the ice cream is beautifully creamy making a good base for the crunch of the Heath Bar. This is a flavor I'll definitely make again!"

If it only had bacon...

Beer Spill Clogs Morning Traffic

Friday, June 19th, 2009
beer-spillFrom the Chicagoist: "If you were caught in a traffic snarl at the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) and Eisenhower Expressway (I-290), you've got beer to thank. A Miller Lite semi-tractor trailer overturned while taking a turn on the on ramp and the top of the truck ripped open, spilling thousands of beer cans and bottles. Things have since been cleared up and the driver suffered only minor cuts and bruises."

Raise your hand if you would have pulled over and helped "clean up the spill".

Whisky Stones

Thursday, June 18th, 2009
Whisky Stones From Uncrate: "One of the worst things about adding ice to a whisky is its ability to water-down the flavor. So chill your next drink down with Whisky Stones ($20)."

You don't have the stones to put stones in your whiskey!

Beer SoapFrom Uncrate: "Ever wish you could just bathe yourself in your favorite lager? Well, this is sorta like that. Beer Soap ($5; $20/5-pack) is fine soap made using 100% beer as the..."

Finally, washing yourself in beer doesn't necessarily mean you're an alcoholic.
