Hottest College Athlete?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Sports Illustrated On Campus is looking for the hottest college athlete. Some of the front runners are:

Adrienne Acton
Taryne Mowatt
Claudia Porras (damn!)
Alison Stoke (pictured)

I’m thinking 90% of female volleyball players (while on the court) could qualify for this list. One question remains, how come there aren’t any cheerleaders considered for this competition, they’re athletes too damn it! Actually, now that I think of it, colleges don’t hype their cheerleading squad they way they do their other athletic teams… no websites, no rosters and sadly, no pics. What gives!?

Wasting money, the Mazda way

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

I read a great feature in Wired a few months back about a team of salvage experts that were called out to save a capsized ship containing about 4000 new Mazdas. A guy died trying to save the ship and Mazda paid a pretty penny to the salvage company, but still ended up destroying all of the cars.

Get Smart Trailer

Monday, April 28th, 2008

I used to love watching Get Smart with my dad on Nick at Nite, but I’m not so sure about the Get Smart movie. Yah, Steve Carell is perfect for Maxwell Smart, but Anne Hathaway as “99″ just isn’t working for me. So many hotter chicks in the world… Jessica Alba, Mila Kunis, Rachel Bilson… to name a few. Oh well.

Batman the Dark Knight Trailer

The Dark Knight looks like it could be as good as the last Batman movie. It comes out on July 18th.

Brett Favre is Madden 2009 Cover “Boy”

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

Just heard this on Sports Center this morning and confirmed it on the Madden 2009 website so its officially official, retired Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre gets the Madden 2009 cover.

There’s been a lot of speculation on this blog about who should have been the cover guy and Favre’s name wasn’t mentioned once in 6 comments.

I guess this makes sense. Everyone knows Madden has a mancrush on Favre, he’s the only guy old enough to have been in every Madden game (to celebrate Madden’s 20th anniversary) and I don’t think the Madden curse can get to Farve in is comfortable retirement home.

Playboy’s Girls of Olive Garden

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

I don’t think I’ve ever had a pleasant experience at the Olive Garden. Once I had a trident gum wrapper fused to the spoon that came with my spaghetti and meat balls, and, on a separate visit (don’t ask my why I went back) they lost a $50 bill I had included with my credit card to be put towards the check.

However, had I known their were enough hotties working there to make a up a Girls of Olive Garden Playboy issue (entry information, maybe NSFW), I may have gone a bit more. Playboy is currently looking for employees of the “fine” “Italian” “restaurant” asking for photos, proof of employment and proof of age.

National High Five Day 2008

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

It’s that time of year again, a time to give your neighbor a high five, your coworker a hangin’ low and your wife a five finger surprise. That’s right, it’s National High Five Day 2008. The High Five Facebook page says over 12,000 high-five happy people are ready to celebrate today, make sure you’re one of them.

Grooveshark: Awesome new music streaming service

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

I wrote about Hype Machine nearly 2 years ago, which aggregates mp3 blogs and allows you to stream songs on your computer, and until now, it was my favorite music listening site.

Enter Grooveshark Lite.

I’m still not exactly sure how it works (and why it’s legal), but it allows you to search for songs and artists and stream them to your PC. You can build, save and share play lists and find similar songs (still a bit clunky). Grooveshark is a Napster on Barry-Bonds-Level-Steroids.

One thing that puts Grooveshark above Hype Machine is that they automatically remove duplicate songs from the same artist, something that always aggravated me when listening to an artist on Hype Machine.

I’m not sure how long this service will be around once the record companies catch wind of it, so take advantage of it while you can.
